Prometheus QoS 0.1 released Michael Polák ( ) Přečteno 184836x, 45 komentářů, rubrika: (en) Software Releases Prometheus QoS is ISP-oriented tool for easy manipulation with IP traffic shaping and sharing features of Linux kernel. This long awaited tool was developed in order to organize and manage traffic flow through (the) Prometheus iGW, gateway providing internet access to 200+ homes connected within network of about 20 wireless (Wi-Fi) access points and one FSO (free space optics) link. (That network is still just tiny fraction of huge non-profit community network CZFree.Net, operating in Prague and other places in Czech Republic).
Prometheus QoS allows gateway administrator to design and apply numerous bandwidth allocation schemes - including fair-per-IP sharing, classical traffic shaping, full or partial free bandwith sharing, with or without data limits. Web statistics and traffic logging are optional.
Requries Linux kernel with compiled HTB and SFQ QoS modules, tc and iptables utilities to run, and C compiler to compile - it is distributed in source code form.
Together with Prometheus QoS, first public release of C<<1 programming language was made available. This highly experimental header file C programming language provides lightweight alternative to advanced scripting languages, like Perl. Although Prometheus QoS is written in C<<1, there is no need for separate download - C<<1 consists of one simple header file, which can be easily bundled with C<<1 based applications.
Both experimental releases are available from our GPL software page. Feel free to submit any comments right here, under this announcements...
