Caldera (UK/USA)
Caldera/Lineo/SCO vs. Arachne Labs history: Digital Research, company that developed CP/M and DR-DOS, was bought by Caldera and became first Caldera-UK and later Lineo, which now redirects to Metroworks. Their DR-Websyder web browser was derived from Arachne web browser in 1997, and later re-branded as "Embedix" browser. Interesing: At the time Caldera licensed Arachne WWW browser, it was suing Microsoft and distributing Linux and they looked like "good guys". Caldera itself later took over SCO and became SCO itself, only to start suing entire Linux community including IBM, with strong support of Microsoft itself (!). Arachne Labs would never license Arachne WWW browser to Caldera/SCO if such change of mind was predictable in 1997.

Arachne Labs se po převodu všech smluvních závazků vůči klientům na nástupnický subjekt SPOJE.NET soustředí výhradně na vývoj software, v ideálním případě samozřejmě toho svobodného. Jako vhodný nástroj pro financování takového vývoje se jeví transparentní bankovní účet.

Arachne Labs všechny svoje aktivity související s poskytováním Internetu převedly na firmu SPOJE.NET - přesto pokládám za důležité zmínit se v těchto dnech o dění okolo dohody ACTA, která by měla zásadní dopad na samotný princip poskutování Internetu.

Značka Arachne Labs nyní budou používána pouze pro vývoj software, resp. pro drobné zakázky živnostenského charakteru (instalace připojení, apod.). Všichni klienti připojení k Internetu nebo klienti využívající webhostingové či serverhousingové služby jsou postupně převáděni pod hlavičku SPOJE.NET s.r.o.
